F2C Receives OICF Grant
Once again our Farm to Cafeteria Program has been honored by an Orcas Island Community Foundation (OICF) Partner in Philanthropy by fully funding our request for a grant to secure the purchase of local 100% grass fed beef from our own Coffelt Farm for the entire coming new school year!   Though our donor wishes to remain anonymous, we're hoping our gratitude reaches him or her in the sincerest of ways.

Our Island beef is as good as it gets. It's born on Orcas and is raised entirely on grass.   Grass-fed beef has almost 100 fewer calories than a 6-ounce steak from a grain fed steer.  Also, all grass fed beef meat contains less of the “bad” fat and two to six times more “good” fat called “omega-3 fatty acids”, as well as another “good” fat known as CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) - known to reduce the risk of Cancer in adults.

We are so proud of our community and how deeply it cares for the health and welfare of our kids, and for making it possible to spend our funding dollars right here on Orcas.
